Q: is this a plug and play device ??

A: It doesn't automatically play. You have to follow the directions to download some drivers from the disc it comes with in order to use their video system. If you have Windows Media Center already on your computer you go to settings, click on General, and then do Windows Media TV setup or something similar to those steps. If you have Windows Media Center already on your computer, I suggest you use that as a much better system.
